Just how good are the courses that are available for play on our Myrtle Beach’s Best golf package? Another recent accolade delivered a definitive answer.
Seven courses from this collection – including Barefoot Resort & Golf’s Dye, Fazio and Love courses, Caledonia Golf & Fish Club, Prestwick Country Club, Tidewater Golf Club and True Blue Golf Club – were cited by the South Carolina Golf Course Ratings Panel (SCGCRP) for inclusion among its “Best You Can Play” Public Access Courses in South Carolina for 2019.
These designs join such nationally renowned designs as The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Resort, Harbour Town Golf Links and The Dunes Golf & Beach Club in select company. The seven Myrtle Beach’s Best designs comprise more than half the Grand Strand region’s total selections for this honor, among them the aforementioned Dunes Club, Grande Dunes Resort Course, Heritage Club, Pawleys Plantation Golf & Country Club, Pine Lakes Country Club and TPC Myrtle Beach.
The SCGCRP is comprised of golf enthusiasts representing a wide range of occupations, handicaps and backgrounds, who are given the task of identifying the very best golf experiences that The Palmetto State has to offer. Its “Best You Can Play” list is released biannually in odd-numbered years, and includes every resort, public access, and daily-fee course among those eligible for consideration in this premium grouping.
Criteria such as course routing, variety, strategy/course management, equity, memorability, aesthetics and overall experience are used by each member of the panel in determining their ratings.
