Big-time course architects have constructed big-time golf in Myrtle Beach

The Myrtle Beach’s Best Package has no shortage of artfully designed golf courses built by some of the game’s most well-respected course architects (and touring pros). Names like Strantz, Dye, Player, Norman, Love and Fazio abound, giving players the unique chance to enjoy a round on courses created by golf’s most distinguished imaginations.

Opened in 1994, Caledonia Golf & Fish Club was the first solo design for the great Mike Strantz. This brilliantly sculpted 18-hole course, with its undulating greens and oak-lined fairways, quickly developed a reputation as one of the premier courses in America, while also solidifying Strantz as an architectural force. True Blue Golf Club would open just four years later on a piece of land adjacent to Caledonia. The natural beauty of True Blue is overwhelming, incorporating native marshland throughout the challenging yet rewarding 18 holes. Strantz’s efforts with Caledonia and True Blue were rewarded in 1998, when he was named “Architect of the Year” by Golf World.

Pete Dye (pictured) and his son P.B., names synonymous with golfing excellence, added to their family legacy with their own contributions in Myrtle Beach. Designed by the father and son, Prestwick Country Club’s layout is among the best in the Southeast—with the look and feel of a private country club.

The Dye Course at Barefoot Resort & Golf is an elegantly treacherous experience players won’t forget. With Pete Dye’s famous pitfalls capturing errant shots, the course is a challenge, but can be tamed when played from the right set of tees. Greg Norman, Davis Love III and Tom Fazio also have designs at Barefoot. Their unique, visually appealing courses are strategically designed, fun to play and offer golfers exceptional service, with first-class facilities including a well-stocked pro shop and extensive practice area.

Blackmoor Golf Club is Gary Player’s golf course in Myrtle Beach. The course is player-friendly and highly creative, tempting players to hit shots they would not normally.

Golf’s best course architects have made their mark on Myrtle Beach, constructing a variety of options for world-class golf that make the Grand Strand a destination that is truly second to none. Now’s your time to experience it yourself, and the Myrtle Beach’s Best package is the ideal place to start your planning. What are you waiting for?
