Who doesn’t like Italian food? If you raised your hand, feel free to leave now, but based on the number of Myrtle Beach restaurants serving pizza, pasta, pierogies and calzones, most of you enjoy food from the Beautiful Country.
With all the choices can come confusion, but we are here to make your golf trip great on and off the course. With you in mind, we’ve loaded up on carbs, meatballs and marinara and can now present you with a list of the Myrtle Beach area’s five best Italian restaurants, in no particular order:
— For more than 20 years Chianti South has been serving superior Northern Italian food in Little River. The veal chop, while pricey at $38.95, is the best around.
— Located in the heart of Myrtle Beach, everything at Sole is handmade and every meal should start with the mushrooms stuffed with crab meat, garlic and oregano. Throw in the chicken parm entree and a glass of wine, and you have the perfect end to a day.
— There are 746 restaurants in Myrtle Beach, according to TripAdvisor.com, and Villa Romana is No. 5. The restaurant has 1,700 TA evaluations and a whopping 94 percent of them rate it as 4 or 5 stars. As for the remaining 6 percent, they must be flat-earthers. The bruschetta is awesome and the eggplant lasagna comes highly recommended. You won’t go wrong here.
— Murrells Inlet might be the Seafood Capital of South Carolina, but I’d encourage anyone on the Marshwalk to enjoy a meal at Costa. The chicken marsala – sauteed shiitake mushroom in a wine sauce over linguini is at the top of the list. Going back to TripAdvisor.com, Costa is the No. 1 ranked restaurant in Murrells Inlet. Who are we to argue?
— The hot Italian sausage and banana pepper soup alone makes a trip to Midtown Bistro worthwhile. The tomato-based soup is the perfect blend of spice and flavor, and the rest of the menu is just as good. There are 251 restaurants in North Myrtle Beach, and Midtown Bistro is No. 3.
