Myrtle Beach’s Best Hole Spotlight: Caledonia Golf & Fish Club No. 13

From the large bunkers short of the par-three 9th to the forced carries on your approach shot to the 18th Hole, players will face a variety of challenges at Caledonia Golf & Fish Club. A hole that most Caledonia guests especially enjoy is the par-four 13th – not the longest hole on the course, but rated as its fifth toughest.

This dogleg left gives players the opportunity to cut the corner by taking it up and over the willow tree that protects the dogleg itself, which takes its left-hand turn around 240 yards in. Players who try to cut the dogleg will have to land their tee shot in the smallest part of the fairway. Though finding the fairway is key, the toughest part of this hole is yet to come.

After a challenging tee shot, players will be left with anywhere from 140 to 180 yards to navigate. Though this approach will typically require no more than a 5-iron into this green, players will have to deal with long, deep bunkers that guard each side of the green. The combination of the island-type green surrounded by large bunkers makes this one of the most visually striking holes on the entire golf course. The green has three feet of fringe around its outer edge that will give players a small spot to miss on the off chance they don’t hit a perfect shot. And the green looks flat at first glance, but the more you analyze it, the more you see the genius behind this Mike Strantz design.

The par-four 13th hole at Caledonia Golf & Fish Club isn’t long but is one of the best holes on the entire golf course. For more information on our golf packages click here! To book your golf package today, give us a call at (844) 706-7503!
